Submarines: A Tale of Low Sheen paint...

I was reminiscing with an old shipmate from Repulse the other day and boy did we laugh!

We were talking about the day that Rod and I were sent out in a rubber dinghy with a pot of Low Sheen paint and a roller. We were in harbour tied up in the Gare Loch at the time and it was necessary to row out to the rudder in order to paint it black. So off we went and rowed up to it. I dipped the roller in the paint while Rod did his best to keep us close the rudder itself! I then rolled the roller up the rudder. We hadn't thought of the consequences of this, but we immediately headed out into the Gare Loch and I nealry fell in!

We laughed ourselves silly over this ridiculous situation :) No matter what we tried each time I tried to roll the paint on the rudder I forced us away from the boat ROFL It still make me smile when i think of those days :) It took us all day to paint it and we gathered quite a crowd of laughing sailors on the jetty watching these antics! Including the PO who had assigned us the task in the first place :)
