Submarines: A leaky Tale
Welcome Ashley and thanks for your comments :) I don't often post about my submariner past (official secrets act and all that)! But I thought I'd tell you this tale from when I was a junior seamen operator second class! (lowest of the Low)
We used to have a family day on Repulse where we would invite familys onboard and take them out to sea for the day. Anyway what we failed to tell them was that our main access hatch leaked like a bastard down to about 50 feet :) and you can see it clearly along one deck passagway from the control room!
So off we go along the Gareloch and head off up the Clyde. We get out into the Irish sea and start to dive, and of course water starts to piss in through our main access hatch ha ha. Man you have never seen so many poeple go white in your life! I was on the CEP plot at the time and just sniggered (being young and fearless) for which I got a cuff round the head from my XO LOL Suffice it to say that the wives present became even more worried about what their hubbys did for a living.
Yes Submariners are
A. Very Odd
B. Slightly Mad and off centre

we used to say that the only way to stay sane was to be crazy. the other take is that to do the things demanded of submarines, the crewmen had to be crazy to do so! either one works for 98% of the cases.
