Spam: For those who hate spam :)
Hi All
I just loaded up my Spam trap here
Spam
Essentially when a spam harvesting robot hits my domain it will find that page and think mmm yummy look at all these email address's! When it gets to the bottom it will find the link to page two (The desert) and merrily harvest those to. Once it gets to the bottom of page two it will use the link back to page one and voila my script will have dynamically generated a whole new set of addresses for it to munch on :) Round and round it will go.
Will it stop spam? No. Will it fill up the owners database with crap? Yes. Will he think twice about sending his bot to me again? Yes.
If you want the script for your own domain send me an email and I will send it to you. Have a good weekend.
Mark...

Do you think a spambot will load a bunch of email adresses from a page that has the word spam in it multiple times?
Maybe be the dumbest spammer will fall for that, but i don't think it will do much good.
maybe you should try something like projecthoneypot.

Spam Bots are not Spammers they are Software, therefore they dont think they just act on pre written instruction sets! Do I think the bots will harvest those addresses? Yeh I had one doing just that last night for 3 hours :)
No one thing works for spam and to be honest thats just a bit of coding fun for me and some friends :) Thats all.
PS
Spammers dont get my email address because its not anywhere on my sites. I also use complex mode re-write in my .htaccess file and block them at that level once I find a new one in my logs.

O gosh, I really thought these spambots where low paid employees surfing and writing down these e-mail adresses on post-it notes.
No seriously, if I were to code a spambot , the first word combo I would use to filter out unwanted pages would be spam and trap.
But hey, just my 2 cents, really, take a look at projecthoneypot, it's seems to be a better approach

After the dumber spammers get this in their database and try to spam these "email addresses" they,ll be MAD! None really work.
