June 22, 2005Search Engine Optimization: Top results are not Necessarily Top company's!It's quite funny that when I chat to "Non Techy" Customers or even friends about the internet. ALL of them assume that the pages on page one of any results MUST be the BEST companys for that service or product! How scary is that? They assume (quite mistakenly) that Google, MSN and Yahoo etc are providing accurate results ROFL! Seriously that is actually quite scary isnt it? If your not on page one your considered to be inferior in some way shape or form. Of course I know that not all people think this way and perhaps it's just my clients and friends that do (I think not) I guess it was about time we started out own SEO afteral then huh.

Either we train everybody to search properly, or we train everybody to write sites properly, or we wait for decent search algos, or SEO is pointless. As it stands, if you rank #1, you'll get more visitors. Just target the right keywords and all will be well. Posted by: Paul Woodhouse at June 24, 2005 6:43 AM IMHO, a good many people think that way about rankings and performance -- if "think" is the right word here. I spend a good deal of time researching the topic of online marketing, and your clients seem to express a common attitude. SEO or bust.
