Pro Kart Endurance Champs August 2004
Sandown Park Round 6
Another hot one
Once again Chris and I went very early to Sandown. I think we left Peterborough at 6am again but this time I didn't leave anything at a service station so we were much more relaxed when we arrived and got set-up for the day. I am getting much better at setting the kart up now (practice makes perfect I guess) so we were all happy again with the way the kart handles. We were also sporting our new custom made carbon bits and bobs and nice blue anodising all over the place :) at least we look good I guess!
Qualifying
Qualifying was performed yet again by Chris (he is the fastest driver we have) Chris finally qualified us in 23th place which again is not bad but we still feel we are under performing.
Race
Race on then and Jon has been selected to start with me running in second spot for the day. Jon makes a good start and makes up some places from the off. It soon becomes apparent that there is a timing problem and karts are not being timed correctly by the computer equipment. A race halt is called and it is decided to re-start the race with the last good timing results and then run just 4 hours. This sees us restart the race in exactly the same place we were in at the start. I do the restart and quickly settle in for my drive.
A quite uneventful drive for me sees us change over to Chris in 15th place clubman and about 25th overall out of 40 karts. Chris drove really hard again and managed to gets us to 10th in clubman before he pits for Adam to bring home the chequered flag for us again.
Adam once again does us proud and stays out of trouble for the most part, although at the moment our slowest driver he is getting much much better and finally brings us home in 13th place clubman, so we score points again although not as many as we would like to be honest! Still after 6 rounds we have finished 6 times and that for a new team is an achievement in itself I guess
Roll on round 7..
