I think that if parents don't like a show they should change it and not let their kids watch. That goes for any show. It does have a power button. I agree with you that it's not the end of the world.

If they think Dr. Who is too scary, what do they think of Spiderman or some of the other movies that are out?

i'm with you, how did the kids that survived the blitz? no sofa big enough in those days.

Dr Who too scary? Yikes. We watched way worse as kids & we loved it. The scarier the better, but then my folks weren't wimps.

My kid watches things like The Witches and Matilda - very scary, I think. But dude, life is scary.

Isn't it strange how ideas about what kinds can handle change? I remember watching movies like The Secret of NIMH and The Dark Crystal and though they scared the bejeebers outta me, whenever I see them I realize how much better they were than Land Before Time II-XI. I'd rather my (hypothetical) kid watch a scary movie with an appealing narrative and strong characters, than some of the mindless fluff that passes for child-friendly these days. :)

well it depends if the child is the one who picks out the movie they think they are ready to watch it. dont change the channel every kid needs a good scare here and there but kids are not as dumb as some of our ancestors the reason poeple make those movies is to scare kids when who ever is creating the movie they ment for it so be life like because if it wasnt it could be as dull as barney. give kids some credit they do deserve it even though it seems like they dont
