April 15, 2005Life: Wimpy Parents!I heard on the news today that rather a lot of parents have phoned the BBC to complain that Dr Who is too scary for their poor little children :( When I was a kid and watched it we used to hide behind the sofa (no joke) BUT we did'nt wet the bed or have nightmares either. I am sure these types of parents make there kids neurotic by being so themselves! My God how did the kids during world war two cope? The sofa they hid behind was likley to get bombed!

That goes for any show. It does have a power button. I agree with you that it's not the end of the world. Posted by: Matt at April 16, 2005 4:02 AM If they think Dr. Who is too scary, what do they think of Spiderman or some of the other movies that are out? Posted by: Ashley at April 16, 2005 9:09 PM i'm with you, how did the kids that survived the blitz? no sofa big enough in those days. on another note, i am glad i found you again. i had lost your bookmark, but now I'M BACK! i've linked you up, and posted here to send visitors your way. bo p.s. USS Seawolf (SSN-575) 74-81, to answer an earlier question. Posted by: bothenook at April 18, 2005 5:20 PM Dr Who too scary? Yikes. We watched way worse as kids & we loved it. The scarier the better, but then my folks weren't wimps. Wimpy parents = wimpy kids Posted by: cube at April 20, 2005 1:47 PM My kid watches things like The Witches and Matilda - very scary, I think. But dude, life is scary. (*)> Posted by: birdwoman at April 21, 2005 8:18 PM Hi Mark - I'm a blogExplosion drop in. Isn't it strange how ideas about what kinds can handle change? I remember watching movies like The Secret of NIMH and The Dark Crystal and though they scared the bejeebers outta me, whenever I see them I realize how much better they were than Land Before Time II-XI. I'd rather my (hypothetical) kid watch a scary movie with an appealing narrative and strong characters, than some of the mindless fluff that passes for child-friendly these days. :) Posted by: Shae at April 22, 2005 5:58 PM well it depends if the child is the one who picks out the movie they think they are ready to watch it. dont change the channel every kid needs a good scare here and there but kids are not as dumb as some of our ancestors the reason poeple make those movies is to scare kids when who ever is creating the movie they ment for it so be life like because if it wasnt it could be as dull as barney. give kids some credit they do deserve it even though it seems like they dont Posted by: dr no it all at June 20, 2005 12:40 PM Post a comment |
