Robot Wars Series 7 2003
The World Champs
We are in the New World Champs :)
This is to be held in August in Nottingham at RAF Newton I beleive. We have now taken all the parts that were on the redesign table over to our CNC man to be made! Not many changes to be honest.
A redesigned blade for the weapon with a hub made from Ally and not steel as before. A new front scoop (much stronger) the other one bent to easily in series 7, a new speed controller as mentioned above. Some extra armour on the top and sides and reworked wheel protection too. All in all a much much better machine which will hopefully get us past round bloody one for a change :) If we do just watch Ian and I in the booth because it will be champagne and cigars time!!!!
I will update the gallery with all these changes when we get the parts back from the machine shop.

Robot Wars Series 7 2003
The show
Well this time our trusty never to break down vantec! broke down :(
The fight was going all in our favour. We were in a 4 way melee for the first round and straight from the off I had attacked Top Bot and took his 35kg disk clean off to roars from the crowd :) I guess our vertical spinner is better than a horzontal one then huh!
Sadly Ians front scoop could not stand the pressure and bent up slightly, this prevented us from getting in close to attack the other robots as the disk wouldnt quite touch them! Frustrating to say the least. I did attack the house robots though with quite some success :)
About 1 min from the end of the fight when it looked like we were the clear winners the robot just stopped. DEAD! I was so pissed. later when we checked it was one of the fets in the speed controller that had let go. Oh well you just cant test electronics. So sadly our exit from series 7

Series 7 auditions
Well a funny thing happened at qualifying for series 7 :)
Turn up we did with me brimming with confidence about being 10 to 15 kilos underweight this year! Pop the ol girl onto the scales and horror of horrors 4 kilos OVER. We we cant let you in they say :( Ian at this point is the most depressed I have ever seen him ha ha ha.
Of you go he says and work your magic. As I am known for my blagging skills and persuasiveness under pressure :)
So Of I go in search of Neil the shows assistent producer.
Neil we are overweight mate. By how much he says? 4 kilos I say but its no problem as we can lighten the disk but not here in the carpark today. Let me speak to the producer he says! Producer comes over. Hello Mark nice to see you what's up? We are overweight by 4 kilos but its not a problem as we can easily lose it but not today! I have driven all the way from Vienna to be here (my ace card the sympathy vote)
Ahh your the one who comes all the way from Vienna! Yes all the way just for you Mr Nice Producer fellow (my second ace the tears)
Well I love the machine and want it in the show so your in :) be back here Tuesday with the weight lost!! So I guess we are seeded in a way ha ha ha.
Ian is suitably relieved :) He awards me a gold star for blagging skills under pressure. It has been said by my freinds that if I fell in a river I would emerge dry and with a salmon flapping in each pocket :)
Woohooo now we just have to lose 4 kilos on a bank holiday Monday with no lathe! So a frantic call to my Brother who is best mates with a guy (Mick) who owns an engineering firm. Yes I will go in a skim the disk for them no probs Mick says.
So of we trot to his workshop and in the end we took the two sides from the disk to make it elliptical and lost 7 kilos all told (nice). Anyway we yet again managed to get into the show which we are very proud of. I can Assure you that this machine is a machine to be reckoned with, as you will see when we appear on TV. Cant say more than that sorry! watch for us on Channel 5 in November "Heat N" is our first!!!

Robot Wars Series 7 2003
Qualifying dates
We have our qualifying dates through. Saturday 23rd at midday.
So here goes nothing I guess. We have checked and tweaked and refined and hopefully nothing will go wrong. Famous last words as last time everything went wrong. Still we can do no more than test and in test everything works as it should. The machine is very tuff and drives beautifully to. So no more driving into the pit in 18 seconds for me ha ha. We will see!

Robot Wars Series 7 2003
This year we win!
Well The website has been down for ages I guess. So I thought that with the advent of Evo two I would launch it again :)
This year I think we have a real chance of winning! How many times have I thought that!!! Seriously all the mistakes we made with Executioner 1 have been ironed out with Evo2. The beast is nearly finished woohoo. The motor has now been seriously tuned and to be honest I have never seen a powerband that goes strait up ha ha. With the new gearing we now achieve zero to 3500 rpm in less than 2 seconds. This is with a 30kg disk so it is rather scary to say the least. Still I have always been into overkill ha ha. Oh yes and for all you Gyro people out there. We have no vertical gyro effect whatsoever with our tests. I am unsure why this is as we are shifting in a vertical plane a serious amount of metal. Perhaps it is because the machine is so short and low. Anyway in driving tests it is very stable in turns with the disk flat out.
I am so happy about this as it was my major concern to be honest. Oh yes and because of all the weight we have saved with new materials and the new very small design we can add a whopping 38.5kg of armour.
