Blogging: Are you original?

I dont know about you but I sometimes struggle for content for my blog. You know you sit staring at a blank page and just cannot think of anything meanigfull to write!

It seems lots of other bloggers suffer the same fate as more and more I read posts that are not actually posts at all, they are just links to other posts and so on. In fact there are so many links within the post the only original words are the Ands ifs and thes that the blogger inserts between the links! Maybe that's good maybe not I guess it depends what you read blogs for and what information your looking for.

Blogging is not always about coming up with purely original content. Rather, a blog is about building a certain type of audience then trying your best to cater to those individuals to build your readership.

This could mean writing original content OR pointing them to other sites with articles or content that may interest them (with or without injection of your own opinion). Although, original content and link to other posts with your comment is more interesting than just having links.

As such, I do agree that constant linking to other people articles / posts will eventually make your audience leave -- why bother coming to you when they can go directly to the source.

I always comment on links if I have them. Worse than links are the results of those stupid surverys. Anyone who posts that they are 42% Angel is 100% dork.

I think im going to concentrate on controversy as it generates far more comments than an ordinary post does :)

mark, if you remember back to the beginnings of the blogosphere, we used to read the pundits telling us that blogs are just friends reading newspapers and pointing out the interesting articles to their friends.
i've been trying to keep up with your web stuff, because i'm a neophyte amature, and i think your posts have helped me learn a bit more about the web

Your so right there (hence why I can go for a month or so without an entry - ooer missus).
Some blogs just turn into a click fest!
