May 25, 2010 SEO TrafficGetting traffic to your website or blog can be as difficult as getting hundreds of backlinks or as expensive as taking out ads at popular websites. It can also be as simple as using a few SEO techniques to make sure your site is getting the traffic it needs through popular search engine searches. By using the principles of search engine optimization, you can get a better placement in the search engine results and more traffic to your site. This traffic is known as organic traffic, and the search engines are not paid for these placements. The search engines benefit by giving their users the information they're seeking, bringing them back to the same search engine again for the next search. So, where are the search engine placement rules? In a perfect world, perhaps they would be written out for all to see and benefit from. But search engines keep these secret, leaving site owners to speculate about what has worked for them and what has not. By drawing on all of that experience, you can see what the best techniques are for getting high placement to bring in more traffic to your own site. Keywords One of the easiest SEO techniques is to master the use of keywords. The keyword density is the percentage of the article made up of the keywords you have chosen. While most search engines won't say exactly what percentage they are looking for, there is an optimal percentage range for each search engine. For this reason, the recommended keyword density will vary, depending on what SEO resource you read. Most sources recommend a keyword density of anywhere from 1.5 to 5 percent. Getting the keyword density you need can be done in one of two ways: counting the words in each piece and placing the keyword enough times, or using a keyword density tool. If you choose to count, just divide the number of times a keyword appears by the number of words in the entire piece. The answer is your keyword density percentage. If you use a keyword density tool, you can paste the copy directly into a box, click a button to calculate the density, and be given the answer. Either method is reliable, so it's just a matter of personal preference which one your choose.
To get good search engine rankings, you also need good, original content. If the item has been printed elsewhere, it will not rank as well as if it were original to your site. Getting your original content should be an ongoing process, however. If you put all of your content on a site at one time, never adding to it, you will not rank as highly as if you added to it often. Search engines like large sites, and they like sites that continually add to their content. A stagnant site is not one that is likely to be looked at again and again, and search engine owners don't want their users being turned off by them. If you can implement some basic SEO techniques, you have a much better chance of getting one of the coveted top spots in the search results. And, these results aren't dependent on your ad budget or whether your backlinks stay in place.
May 1, 2010 Death of the sales letterI recieved this in my inbox the other day.
Are you still using long salesletters? If you are you could be costing yourself tons of cash. People do not respond well to long salesletters anymore. However, you can increase your sales by 2-3 times just by using a simple video. http://www.#########.com Salesletters are a thing of the past and just do not work anymore. The internet marketing scene is changing before our eyes. If you do not start learning how to use videos for your marketing methods you will become extinct like the dinasours. You see videos just work better.... Do you believe that? I don't myself simply because the sales process does not work like that. People like storys and they also like to read something and then put it down and come back and read it again. We just don't iteract with video in the same way. So I won't be rushing to buy this course myself. Now video and a sales letter yes, video on its own hmmm

April 12, 2010 How Secure is your Server?Hackers are EVERYWHERE! Hackers, script kiddies. They are out there and they are trying to get at you. Here is just one of our server logs from one of our dedicated servers.
---------------------- SSHD End ------------------------- ------------------ Disk Space -------------------- /dev/sda7 2.0G 304M 1.6G 16% /
Can you see how many times and with how many user combinations someone has tried to access this server? They never give up! However they will NEVER get the password to this server because we use roboform pro and get it to generate passwords of 20 characters that look something like this $46cPLiyGe3lzw2#3k48 Even I dont know what my passwords are as robo form stores them all for me in a secure Blowfish encryption. Nice. We have also tightened up the security on our servers by limiting the amount of invalid logins from an IP amongst other things. On my personal laptop and work computers we run the following protection AVG Internet security for the firewall and also anti virus protection We also use encyption of our FTP client Cute FTP and on the servers we lock FTP access in the control panel and only unlock it for an hour at a time. Do all the above and you will pretty secure. Mark
March 8, 2010 Website Logo DesignThe Ins and Outs of a lonely Website Logo Like any other type of branding, your website logo design stamps your identity on the mind of your visitors and customers. Customers often identify a company by its logo, so a website logo design should capture the values and services of the company. Ours says quite a lot even if it is abstract. A great website logo design is one way to get ahead of the competition. Such a logo does not have to be complicated or overdone to say what you want it to say, but it must be memorable. A well done website logo design can act on the subconscious of customers so that the first company they think of in your line of business is yours. No serious online business should operate without a website logo design that does the following: signify the company's values and services, and ultimately appeal to the target audience. The wrong website logo design can convey the wrong message and drive customers away. If you aim to appeal to young, hip customers you want to use a website logo design that they can relate to. On the other hand, if you are aiming for a sophisticated crowd, then your website logo design should be simple and classy. The most beautiful website logo design can be rendered useless if it is targeted at the wrong audience. Remember your website logo deisgn should first and foremost show professionalism and instill brand loyalty.
December 13, 2009 Tis the season to be jolly, or not!So we picked up a new client this week, very nice too as we always like new clients. Same ol story though of dissatisfaction with their previous web designers :( What is that? I will work my asse off to get a new client and then I will provide them with shoddy work and service and literally force them to go eleswhere after exasperating them. The damage this does you is on many levels. 1. They never come back to you EVER 2. They tell everyone they know not to come to you either You LOSE LOSE LOSE If you are offering a service or product then make sure that your clients needs come FIRST and every other which way you can think of to help them enjoy the experience of spending their money with you. November 27, 2009 2012Have you watched it yet? What a load of ol tosh eh. Why O why can't hollywood drop the stereotypes for once! Dsyfunctional family with the dad being the dsyfunctional one, hmmm never seen that before have we and oh yes of course one of the kids has issues with him but he comes good in the end! God how many times do we have to endure that story? They could have done so much better with that material. As it is I don't believe the world will end in 2012 myself. It's an Olympic year and the first time the UK has hosted them so that just would not be cricket would it.
November 18, 2009 Staying FocusedEveryday I recieve to my inbox an offer of some kind. Generally it is either a piece of software that will make my life easier or a course on information I don't know. Some day I get both. So how do you judge if you should invest time on it or do you just delete them all? Well for myself I have a set specific list of projects that I am doing, I have my daily tasks for my current projects and I already am a member of one or two knowledge based sites. So for me it has to be a VERY good pioece of sales copy to even tempt me into reading it. If after reading it I think it will fit into what I am doing ALREADY and NOT divert me into a totally new area then I will buy it. And I think that is the key here. It is SO easy to get sidetracked from your main focus and go off on a tangent in pursuit of riches, but if there is one thing I have learnt in all my years on the internet it's this. Regardless of what anyone tells you. There is no easy money on the internet. It ALL requires lots of work (at least intially) Remember that next time youre tempted and stay focused. Mark

September 23, 2009 Ecommerce what?Small businesses with an internet presence must pay attention to their e-commerce website design if they want to succeed online. Your e-commerce website design is even more important than choosing a domain name or hosting provider. Some e-commerce website design companies offer hosting, SEO services, and traffic reports, while some focus only on e-commerce website design. There are pros and cons to both. When deciding on an e-commerce website design service, there are many issues to consider before making your final decision. If you use the same e-commerce website design service for your design and your site hosting, there are some important benefits. First, you'll come to trust the e-commerce website design firm because you'll have an ongoing relationship with them. This usually means you'll get exceptional service and responsiveness. Even though e-commerce website design and hosting use different skill sets, most e-commerce website design firms can easily handle both. They've got the creative and technical expertise to provide full service. You should always look at examples of their e-commerce website design work and even contact those clients to get their opinion of the service they've received. Mark
